when i click TAclient.exe it stops with "acquiring spring version from spring.exe" and does not continue.

also when i start the spring.exe it does nothing but sit in taskmanager and use ~10mb of ram.
same when trying to start replays by doubleclick.

i installed nothing new and just did a antivirus scan of the directory, everything else on my compuer works.

uhm now it suddendly started, like 15minutes after I clicked the link.
it seems to work fine now again.
I'll still post this if someone else has the same problem..

Took much longer than usual for me too, about 3 minutes. Works now.

maybe the spring.exe was still running, and it waited for closing it?

Should only happen when you have lots of maps (as in gigs) and you delete ArchiveCacheV4.txt (or cause it to be regenerated another way).

spring was not running in background.

my mapfolder is only 1,5GB atm.
I've never touched ArchiveCacheV4.txt, would could cause the recreation?
I think the last "working" game before the startdelaything I tested this lua-scripted islanddefense mission for NOTA which crashed spring after 15min. Could that cause that?

On LANs we had the "problem" that if people downloaded my springversion their TAclient.exe would take some moments to open when it was started the first time. I always thought this was because its caching the minimaps or reading the mods or something.

I had this yesterday as well, just after downloading AA 3.1. I'd also downloaded quite a few new maps. Sounds like Tobi's explanation works for that though.
