I am trying to help a player find out why spring will not run on his machine.
pentium 4 3.0Ghz proccesor with 1024 mb, a 160.0 Gb hard disk,
a 159 mb Geforce 4000 videocard.
I am thinking he may need a video card upgrade but I am not sure. Is a geforce 4000 to not good enough for spring?

What error message is the player getting? (assuming there is one)
If it is video card related, what exact card is it, and which driver?
http://delphi3d.net/hardware/viewreport.php?report=1587 ?
P.S. 159 MB vidram?

Nice odd number... he should be, it's probably the nvidia driver.

That message should really be changed, to something more newb friendly. Like "Required OpenGL extensions not found. Please update your graphics drivers, or upgrade your graphics card"...as it stands there's generally 4 or 5 people asking in #main about that error per day.

Having any card below an FX5200 really has no excuse. An FX 5200 at ebuyer.co.uk is £22, and its been spotted elsewhere much cheaper, and at the same site for an extra £4-8 you can get a 6200.
