Yes... my harddrive starts making sound, like it was copying some shit to somewhere, then the game crashes after it has done that for like 10 secs.

This happened me many times. And it happened now again -.-

Sounds like you've run out of RAM.

Depends on sound your harddrive is making

Either u ran outof ram & windows is trying to grow the swap file to a larger size. And is basicly the swap file is now in several parts & thus windows is all over the place on harddrive.
  • Check size of swap page file & increase it, defrag couldnt hurt.
Buy more ram will help of course

Or if the harddrive sounds happens when outside game.

Could be sign of a dying harddrive.

Then you back up everything and buy a new hard drive, since it's living on borrowed time.

If the game stops while the HDD is 'working', it may be that it just takes a lot of time for the OS to kill the game, maybe it's writing a crash log or something; as usual, make sure you're running on newest drivers, etc.

"This is a broken new harddrive :("

Manufacturer's homepage should have some tool to test the disk. Use it. Since it is new, it is inside the waranty span, which means that if it is broken they will fix it or exchange it for free, though.

I dont think it is broken, if it was, it would do that same error with any other game/program. But this only happens with spring...

---

Ok i got the same kind crash now: i shared units to no-one when playing alone. Then it starts reading/writing the harddrive, and then it crashs.

It could just be writing a memory dump to the harddrive before crashing.

Older version of Spring it made the error report thing, but now it doesnt, why?

CrashReport was MSVC only. Spring 0.74b2 will have a basic crashreporter for MinGW.
