Hosting problems

Post by hammydude »

Hi,

No matter what I do, I cannot get Spring to properly host games. When I launch the game, nobody else is able to connect even after several minutes.

I forwarded port 8452 UDP to my static ip address. Also, I have windows firewall turned off. I connect my computer to a network switch that connects to a wrt54g router that connects to a cable modem that connects to the internet.

In the game hosting, there are 3 options for "NAT traversal", I have tried each option and none of them let me host. What is NAT traversal anyway?

Anyone have any suggestions? I can not figure out what I am doing wrong.

thanks!

Ok everyone, good news! I uninstalled and reinstalled Spring, reset Spring's registry data, and uninstalled and reinstalled my network drivers. After I did that I can host games if i use "hole punching", I guess either Spring was corrupted or my network drivers were.

So strategia, you might want to try that, it could work. Unfortuanetely the autohost does not support hole punching, but at least i can host!

Only thing is not everyone can connect to your hosted games if you use hole punching or other methods of NAT traversal, but they are of the minority.
