Having trouble with placing features... (have searched forum for this issue without much luck)
Using 60b1Mapconv.exe, can compile with height.bmp, metal.bmp, and texture.bmp with no problems, and get a workable map. Can even use green pixels on metal map to place geo-vents. But...
Trying to place geo-vents on feature.bmp (or trees for that matter), but mapconv won't compile anytime i add the -f option into my .bat file, just exits to desktop.
Does the -f option work with 60b1Mapconv.exe, or do I need one of the other versions (they are older aren't they?) of mapconv? Have tried them all, and they crash with "MapConv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Also, if my texture map has green shades in it, trees will appear in those areas in-game as well, which doesn't seem right...
Any ideas?

mapconv.exe -l -i -x 373 -n -80 -m fim_MM.bmp -a fim_HM3.bmp -t fim_TEX.jpg -f fim_FM.bmp -o fim.smf -c .3
This is how it's worked for me.
"trees everywhere" yeah I've been there, I think mapconv used some wrong file for the feature map or sth don't remember anymore.
MM metalmap HM3 heightmap TEX texture FM featuremap.

thanks for the reply, but as mentioned in my post, the -f option does not work with 60bMapconv.exe. I've tried it with feature map sizes both with and without the +1 pixel, and with white and black backgrounds, with no success.
I am aware that the feature map pixels must be a specific color, and antialiased, and have done this too, still no success.
It would be nice if there was a thread listing the various versions of mapconv, and which versions of spring they are compatible with (ie. new or old map format/style)
