Tis the client. You can't do anyrthing with it untill (or if) you get a beta key. But you may want to download it now, just in case you do

Downloading it and not getting a key would be the worst disapointment...but then again, getting a key and having to wait to download would be as bad

Nope. Tis a gamble though. Its the actual files, But you need a beta key to run them. So you can download them now (and risk wasting interwebs times if you don'ty get a key) and play tomorrow (If you get a key).

1gb ram
I have to have everything on the lowest and the strategic camera (minimap) off to get a playable fps :/
