Reconnect to a battle

Given that (sadly) many players drop from time to time, it would be very cool if a player could reconnect to a battle they were already in and pick up where they left off (assuming their teammates hadn't done a .take). The lobby could recognize that a player had been in a battle when the game started, and launch spring.exe with their original team information. Then the server could let them back in and give them back their team.

I think this has been covered, though I'm not sure. It would basically require a complete rewrite of the way the sync engine works, iirc.

I could occasionally pull this off in TA; the game wouldn't boot me out, and I'd just reconnect quicksmart, and get back into it. The game would take a little while to sync up, but it would otherwise be fine.
Perhaps some auto-pause function when a player drops with the option of booting, sharing or waiting for the player to return?
