Give trees only one lodded shadow

If you can trick the engine into doing this, I would prefer a single, lower-detail shadow to a shadow that jumps through three stages as you zoom in on it. It's really distracting and detracts from the overall eye candy.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Wouldnt a static shadowmap or whatever for trees that gets shifted to a dynamic one when it gets whacked down by a tank be a better idea?
