Setting AI start positions manually in game

Can this be done? Right now, it seems that all the AI is capable of doing is blotting themselves into the top left corner every time.
Or, alternatively, change which player number you are in the lobby so you can choose your starting poition that way with "fixed start locations". Is that possible?

.team 1 (or more if you have more players)
place start locations
.team 0
.cheat
start game. Problem solved.

.cheat doesn't turn OFF cheats yet does it... I think they wee planning this but I didn't know it had happened.

It's always been like this.... at least as far back as I can remember...
