Game lobby will not sync after using development build

Hi,

I have found recently that if I test spring with a development build, when i change the spring.exe back to the 'valilla' build to play on the internet, the lobby refuses to sync me into games. I have to reinstall spring to fix this. Any ideas why? The mod files and spring.exe are definately vanilla and I cant see anythin gin the registry that would cause this...

Futher to this, it seems that simply reinstalling spring doesnt even fix this - I have to delete everything (except maps & mods) and reinstall... then it works.

This is a real pain in the bottom, please can someone shed some light on this?

Use two spring installs?

That's what I do - I have my development build located in a completely different directory to the release, and I have no issues running one or the other.

Mine are together with differently named spring executables and it's worked fine so far....

This is what I don't understand - for testing my work, I used a modified spring exe and a midified AA sdz mod. After testing, I replaced the spring exe with the original and the AA sdz with the original and it still wouldnt synce. I then reinstalled spring over the top of itself and installed a fresh copy of AA and it still woulodn't sync. Only by deleting everything except my maps folder and then reinstalling did I get it to work.

Using a second istall of spring for testing will probably work and I'll probably end up doing this, but it seems like a bit of a hack - I'd rather know what the real issue is...

Maybe archivecache.txt is the issue? (because that's where checksums are cached that are used to test sync iirc)

You could try removing that file & restoring spring.exe & AA mod and see if it works then. (if you want to know the reason, that is :-))

That's exactly the sort of reply I was hoping for - I'll give this a try next time the problem occurs - thx.
