Connection losing and NAT traversal

I have noticed a regularity

I keep losing connection from servers not using hole punching or fixed source ports. First freeze mid-game means connection loss for me - I get dropped.
When I connect to a server using hole punching or fixed source ports I keep playing the game to the end (or to the moment when host has problems on his side). Even if the game gets frozen mid-game it always gets unfrozen after a few seconds and I get back to the game...

For me battles using Nat traversals are the ones I wont drop from while they are indicated with a warning sign :?

I have a router and I'm behid NAT.
This has nothing to do with my antivirus and/or firewall (PC and router) as I have checked that with a fresh-installed system without any "protection" soft/hardware onboard.

Am I the only one who has this kind of a problem with connection?
Can the connection code be improved to fix this?

The whole point of the Holepunching and Port forwarding point is NAT traversal, it was made for people with NAT. aka those options ARE the connection code improvements, and if you're behind an NAT you're supposed to use them.

im talking about joining someones game, not hosting my own, and from what i see only host can use these options

than why not turn them to be default ?

Because Betalord has them off by default. I believe part of his reasoning is that some people complain holepunching messes with their connection and other reasons which seem troublesome and are probaby false or ISP related.

diffrence between "fixed source ports" and "none" ?

i use 2 routers and "none" when i host.
two friends both with routers have no problem playing with me.

I can't connect to hosts using hole punching so better not make it the default :-)

same here. If it is turned on by default it's goodbye for me.
