Game Freezing

With the new version of spring the game now becomes completly non responsive when ever i try to build mutiple buildings using shift + alt ( always freezing after i release the alt!). I have to manually end task in windows for it to quit (can't even use shift + esc to quit). I've tried changing settings to no avail. I've tested this on mutiple mods and maps and having the same problem in all. It worked fine in all previous versions (and played on max settings). Oh, btw I've tried reinstalling a few times as I upated the first time (with registry delete as well).

I have the same thing to, just by holding down shift and alt and then releasing any of the two (without having any unit selected or trying to build any thing) will hang the game.
I tried the dev build released a few days ago with the same results.

Your queueing too many buildings, this leads to a great mass of build this messages being sent across the network connection to the host which overfills the buffer to its maximum capacity and triggers a crash condition.
Simply put it I do not know of any star rank players who drag out boxes or squares of buildings with shift alt.
surrounding things with dragon teeth and dragging rows seems to be the most I've seen anybody bother with.

Wind farms!!

I've built windfarms enmasse too, and I find that simply building blocks of them can work, but its tactically unfeasable. The solution to that is to space them out, which then poses an even bigger set of problems such as small units going inbetween and firing at them while hiding behind windgens, or chain explosions still occuring not to mention space constraints.
Simply put, it's not a very good idea to build a huge block of buildings, especially windgens, as blowing up 1 on the edge causes the entire block to explodes.
I find windgens survive more if they're built in several short rows, each row put away from another row, and preferably surrounded by other things such as a map edge, terrain obstacle, or other buildings.
Simply put, block building may work but it is a bad idea when you think of the strategic consequences.

So the buffer in question can be checked for overflow ? (this is more a rethorical question... but seem to be transforming into a strategy discussion) Just to know the error is because of the reason you mentioned and from another one.

But the server shouldn't crash because a client sent it too much traffic...

It shouldnt, yes, but it does. Undeniably. It has happend before. Even if you say it shouldnt, it can happen.

I'm not denying it, it's just that I read AF's post like some kind of 'it's not an issue' message, when it cleary is and should be fixed ASAP.

Maybe instead of sending 50 building commands, it would be possible to send only 1 command containing only start and end points of the buildings block, and then clients receiving it, could generate all the 50 commands from it. Could it work?

Can someone competent tell if it would be a good solution?
