I've been trying to remember to add reviews there, but I usually don't feel confident enough about my opinion of a map until I've played a bunch of games there.
Should I add a blurb on there about how to format your review so it's properly tagged, timestamped, etc?

Honestly, imo FU's comments system and voting option should be used for this.
Maybe we could ask betalord for the ability to add comments and ratings to FU through the client?

That would be wonderful.

It seems that using the FU comment/ * system seems more useful, since all the maps are already listed on FU, and screenshots and download are there right in front of you. It puts all the needed information in one place, y'know?

What about, instead, strategies reviews? For maps, i mean.
Some maps are good but misunderstood. This would help people enjoy them. For example, i can't seem to play Green plains well, no matter what i do. Even worse, i have never won (or even put much of a fight) in the map .. ha can't remember the name but has something about Dragons Teeth.
Strategy reviews of the type:
Map: Sands of war.
Name of the strategy: Hover rush.
Mod: XTA.
Build mexxes on all spots of starting island, build x wind collectors, build hover.
Now, you should relly on kind of unit y.
You will be crushed if the oponent goes strategy z.
You will massacre the oponent if he plays in style alpha.
Could bring alive many good maps that are goners by now. It would also add depth to the games. People could even start seeing games in a diferent way instead of just win or loss.
Much better suited to belong in Spring's site, anyway.

I posted a review on Altored Divide earlier in the week.

What is really needed as far as mapping goes is a good "A-List" of maps that are popular and/or merit more attention. In the vein of FPS style "map packs" that have high visibility, collections on the Wiki of "the best maps" or more competative maps would be good. Another issue is that you have to start small with it. I'd say if you could promote 6-10 maps (4-6 of the most popular ones ATM plus some good lesser known maps) that would be a good point to start at.
Down the road, six months later or so, you post up a new round of top maps, and push those in addition to others. I realize that this could discourage some other maps, but I think for a lot of players, it is overwhelming how many maps there are, so they stick with what they know (Altored Divide, speedmetal, small supcomm, etc...)

Also, the wiki map rating section is largely defunct. Is there a way we can load the data from the lobby ratings into a site for out-of-lobby access, or input them automagically into the wiki?
