anyone looking forward to this?
what do you guys feel about the whole "pre-order gives you OP DLC" thing... i was so stoked about this back around when BC2 came out, and i'll probably pre-order, i'm just not too hot on the apparent cash-grab

Not really, BC2 was breifly enjoyable but not something that would inspire me to pay US$60 for its sequel.

im still mad on ea for there lousy support of generals and ... bf 2142. Yeah, i bought that- with northern strike. and the activation server were down. I got myself a mutliplayer game that never worked.
EA is a symbol for everything that went wrong in the industry over the last decade. Way to many layers, way to little service for the customers. I dont even pirate them anymoar, no matter how shiny the advertisement, the moment you sell your game via EA, you stop existing for me.

I love steam, but a new client for one single game form a company that I trust as far as I can piss. GOOD FUCKIN' LUCK EA!

I love how EA is talking up the realism of BF3... Those who want realism are playing Arma instead. BF is for those who don't want actual realism, merely something that kinda looks like it.

BC2 was built around "realism." Look where that got us.
I played BF2 because it was fun. I don't care that real soldiers don't fly helicopters into enemy tanks and parachute out at the last moment to save themselves. Neither should EA!

BLOODY SCREEN!
(so real!)
yes, yes, I know this concerns that other game, BFBC2 used a much subtler red border, blah blah

OH! That makes sense now!
I thought it was saying
"BLOODY SCREEN! Surreal!"
And I was confused.
Is it supposed to be surreal?
Is Modern Warfare 4 the next
Dark Seed?

Since when is BF3 the sequel to BC2? The entire Bad Company franchise was created to have a consolified version of the Battlefield games with especially a good singleplayer campaign. In the process many things got dumbed down (no more jets, rarely helicopters, no getting prone and thus an easy weapon handling even with MGs, "stupid" classes i.e. grenade launcher + ammo kit = infinte ammo = bad idea)...
Well ok, BF3 isn't going to be a pure sequel to BF2 as some BC2 features were adapted too but it's going to be way different from the Bad Company games...
For me BF2 was the perfect mix between realism and game. Things like ARMA can get tedious as hell (especially due to the long travelling times) while BF2 managed to even out both aspects pretty well giving you neither a completely realistic game with all its annoyances nor a bland shooter where you just rush ahead and auto-fire in the enemy's general direction. It especially featured nice teamplay aspects just as huge maps with vehicles...
As BF3 seems to sort of stay true to the BF2 spirit (especially as they added in some "missing" things after the veteran alpha test phase) I'm definitely going to buy and use it as reason to change from Windows XP to 7...
