Happy PAGOGTCW

Happy Platform Agnostic Game and Other Geeky Things Celebration Week! I used to call it "Winter-een-mas" but decided that since I never really read CTRL-ALT-DEL I would co-opt the "holiday" in the great tradition of every religion, country, sect, and cult through the ages... like Christmas borrowing Saturnalia and Solstice... and then Hanukkah borrowing certain aspects of Christmas back... and then Kwanzaa borrowing the existing "holiday season" for it's own purposes, and then Festivus doing the same thing except with the help of a television show instead of a religious leader or university professor... I've lost my train of thought here... anyways... So PAGOGTCW (still working on the name) is like Winter-een-mas except that there's no affiliation to Tim Buckley and there's no semi-spiritualistic parody of existing holiday beliefs and traditions.

What's left?

Celebrate the last week of January by enjoying all the things that can be done indoors, giving particular attention to the geeky ones like playing video game and board games, wearing sarcastic t-shirts and decorating your cubicle with excess hardware (like mice, keyboards, power cords), old computer and video game equipment, and anything with an LED in it.

My plan is to lose five pounds this week, spending the daylight hours indoors and the dark hours outdoors.

According to this website,

http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/january.htm

January is:
* National Bath Safety Month
* National Blood Donor Month
* National Braille Literacy Month
* National Hobby Month
* Hot Tea Month
* National Oatmeal Month
* National Soup Month

Oatmeal, soup, hobbies, and hot tea sound like good things to celebrate.

You best be joking. One pound per week is reasonable, five is setting yourself up for failure and sickness.

Just mentioning as it is kind of related:
Certain diseases (for example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfeiffer%2 ... #Treatment), require you to rest for a long time (weeks), and also often make it hard not to rest, as you feel heavy tiredness, both physical and concentration wise.
so if you have such a thing, a good treatment could be, so sit at home all day long and play games, preferably mindless ones.
