[16:09:03] <smoth> I got your attention
[16:09:11] <smoth> [15:41:13] <[PiRO]Carpenter> error = 2, maphelper/mapinfo.lua, [string "maphelper/mapinfo.lua"]:120: attempt to index global 'AtmoSDefs' (a nil value)
[16:09:19] <smoth> On desert valley
[16:09:26] <[[ITER]]Satirik> that's unitsync error
[16:09:27] <smoth> map options are not being set as their defaults
[16:09:35] <smoth> Spring lobby doesn't have it
[16:09:39] <[[ITER]]Satirik> your maps are broken
[16:09:48] <[[ITER]]Satirik> the min and max height map
[16:09:54] <[[ITER]]Satirik> on your map always return 0
[16:09:56] <smoth> . . . .
[16:09:58] <[[ITER]]Satirik> the wind speed
[16:10:01] <[[ITER]]Satirik> min max metal
[16:10:04] <[[ITER]]Satirik> all set to 0
[16:10:10] <[[ITER]]Satirik> in SL and TASClient
[16:10:19] <[[ITER]]Satirik> gravity etc
[16:10:21] <smoth> min and max height are not required tags
[16:10:31] <[[ITER]]Satirik> everything
[16:10:33] <smoth> all of those are not required tags
[16:10:36] <[[ITER]]Satirik> is equal to 0
[16:10:41] <smoth> all of those are not required tags
[16:10:50] <[[ITER]]Satirik> your mom is not a required tag
This is why I fucking hate you all.

Also, Also... smoth, have you expanded to 10 times your previous size and turned green recently? Have you been spending any time doing research into gamma radiation for instance?

nice one sat! :D
the code in the engine that reads map options is not the same that reads map options in unitsync. the one in the engine returns/sets the default value if a tag is not set, the one in unitsync not.

Since when? Modoptions too?
Because if that were true, then I'd be really annoyed, for modoptions not set is what I use to determine Spring.exe was launched directly instead of by a lobby.

it's funny how you can't read every words "[16:09:48] <[[ITER]]Satirik>
the min and max height map"

you need this data because? Spring lobby was fine without it.

even if it doesn't, does tasclient support picking up the height I set via lua? because the minmax height I set in the height field on compile are arbitrary. So unless tasclient does full lua parsing and can handle map helper I would say that the feature is not made with much forthought.
OR better yet, if it cannot find values it should say something like "cannot read metal/tidal" and just do a 0-1000 height as a default of course, why would satirik bother with defaults. I do he doesn't. he doesn't get his desired values his shit crashes yet springlobby doesn't how does that work?

seriously smoth, you're getting ridiculous ... you have no idea what you're talking about, because 1, you don't understand how it works, and 2, you didn't start tasclient once in 2 years at least
but, because I am cool, I am going to teach you how it works :
lobbies don't parse lua, they use Unitsync functions to get the values, that's why both lobbies get 0 for every map property, the "error" msg carpenter sent you is retreived from Unitsync too using the "GetNextError". It was displayed by default in an old beta version but is now only printed in debug mode. There is no default values, or Unitsync should return them, unless you talk about the mapoptions, but the mapoptions' default values are loaded correctly, just try if you don't believe me. Why does TASClient need the min and max map height ? because the water is supposed to be at height 0, but if you don't get them you will just have positive (8bits or 16bits) values. It won't be able to display the map correctly either because thoses values scale the height map too. Now what does "crash" mean for a software ? wiki says "A crash (or system crash) in computing is a condition where a computer or a program, either an application or part of the operating system,
ceases to function properly". That unitsync error isn't crashing tasclient it's just a warning message. Even with 0 min and max map height, the 3D minimap is still displayed but there is no water, and the height scale is not correct.

Dont tell me that Satiric is right...cause if he is, it means that the entire Rant of Smoth in mumble yesterday, over this issue, was completely uncalled for..

Well you rants are usually so long, and full of shouting and cursing that I stop trying to follow them very quickly.
