Power metal tends to be pretty bad, male power fantasy is hard to escape in our society and also tends to be pretty bad, and modern fantasy novels tend to fail at creating fantastic soft texts, so... I agree.

Power Metal is still my favourite musical genre though. But not DragonForce, they sing fast but wrong, and spit on their public.

Yes, I do like bands such as Gamma Ray, Lost Horizon, Edguy, Sabaton, Kamelot, ...
And even cheesier bands like Hammerfall or Rhapsody (of fire).

Though the examples you just cited vary in tone and focus, disproving your earlier correction of my statement!
I think Rhapsody was the first power metal band I encountered, followed by Edguy. I actually enjoy Edguy and Sabaton to this day, given the right mood.
