This advertisement makes me puke, I bet 100Ôé¼ the camera cant detect what kind of flip you make skateboarding.
Or put a dress on your body and show how it looks realistically, with half the people being fat I really want to see this.
Or I bet half the apps that this ad shows are non existent.

OMG, its a 3d-camera, lets get rid of the modellers, those creepy pests. Have i linked you to that programming AI- finally a Coder free world, if you dont visit Unemployment Offices regularly.

Srsly, what pratical value does this have? Its a nice gadget to impress fellow nerds, but nothing more.

did you watch the videos in the original post (and the other video where he shows you a 3d shot of the room live from his kinect)? have you seen how kinect actually works?
it uses projected infrared dots to detect distance/depth. it would be able to map a skateboard's complete position in 3d if it knew the shape of the skateboard.

No doubt about that- its nice, but we had this before, remember the webcam 3dscanner, it was diffrent technology, but the result was nearly the same- strange geometry, were kinect has its strang 3dimensional shadows- cant this program remember what it saw and put the pieces together?
If my hand goes behind my back, does it dissappear? If i blink with my eye, is the world gone? It shows just the 3dcam of the kinect, im moreinterested in the memorytechnology reconstructing the 3d objects - keeping them in mind to recognise it. So its really interesting point is animation capturing-

You mean the software? The actual hardware of kinect seems pretty decent
