based on my recommendations she wants to know if this is a good one.

She's going to use it to watch broadcast TV, DVDs/CDs/VHS tapes (via external devices... her DVD player doesn't even support HDMI), and showing pictures from her camera to guests.

Her budget is $400 and we figured out she would need a 32" to have the save vertical screen resolution as her existing Tube TV.

Fnordia has one he could probably sell you. I heard it's got a few neat extra features, too.

Sony normally won't have the best price vs performance either (overpriced generally)

Best buy has horrible warranty and return policies. Stay away at all costs.

Also, if you're going to spend that much on a 32", just go for a greater than 40", because at that point, you're just wasting money by not.

For example: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Panasonic-TC-P42C2/14710589

Ya I know, walmart, but lets be realistic. Walmart (unless you're an idiot douchebag) will accept returns for quite some time, doesn't ask a lot of questions, and is generally a pretty decent place. Additionally panasonic is a quite good brand with good warranty policies (I would have preferred Toshiba, but meh).

Another note, don['t buy shit till black friday. When black friday hits, all this shit will be half the price that it is currently.
