Blood Bowl - Legendary Edition

Anyone purchased this?
I enjoyed table top Blood Bowl when I was younger. So when I heard they were making a Blood Bowl game I was excited. The old version was released over a year ago, the game was decent and faithful to the original board game and also included a real time mode.
The new edition improves the AI and expands the original roster from 8 teams to 20.
Imo its well worth the purchase.
The campaign mode is really enjoyable. Watching your team grow and gain skills and stats and hoping they don't get killed in a game :p

I was a fan of the tabletop game myself, but every video I see of the PC game are these up-close glamour shots instead of the actual *gameplay* which has kept me away from looking further into it.

The game plays identically to the tabletop game using the current rules as per Games Workshop.
So it is 100 percent faithful to the tabletop game in every aspect.

Blood Bowl computer game uses Living Rulebook 5 (perhaps 6).. a very well maintained and balanced system. Games Workshop dropped official support from Blood Bowl years ago (they just want to sell buckets of warhammer minis to kids and dropped all their sideline games).
From Blood Bowl ed.3, the Living Rulebook has been developed by a community with changes vetted yearly by a committee led by Jervis Johnson (the original designer). Stats and feedback from online leagues used extensively for balancing (but note that not all teams are supposed to be equal.. halfing teams are a challenge verging on suicidal).
Get your alternative free online BB kicks at
http://fumbbl.com. Simple Java client with just enough graphics and sound, this has been running for years and years. It has a great community with a very well run website and tournament scene (many community led tournaments open to new/developed teams. Also 5 'majors' yearly with cool prizes (unique items/etc for the winning team)). Being able to join games as spec mid way and /cheer and /boo adds a lot to the atmosphere.
I've played a friends copy of the new BB and its good.. I've got a bunch of friends who are loving it. Its certainly much simpler to get started than with fumbbl and ofc, far prettier. I don't know much about the community or tournament scene..?

The game runs living rulebook edition 6.
It has its own league with automated matchmaking. But also provides support for private leagues that you can host.
The pretty graphics to add alot to the atmosphere of the game :]
The tourney scene seems decent. They just held a tourney with over 3000 participants with a prize of 8000 dollars.

Oooh, that does sound good... although I probably woulnd't recognize the rules anyways - I only played the old 2nd-edition, which was back when it was far more wargamy. They streamlined it a lot because the game was *really* long.

I used to play the old rules. All I can tell is they have just tried to balance the game. No more insane stompy undead teams

I started out with 2nd ed and have played on and off ever since.
2nd ed was an old style 'fluff' game really.. metagaming would just break the system horribly. New rules would just be piled on top of old adding complexity with little regard to balance.
Not everyone liked it but IMO 3rd ed was a stroke of genius with superb team & player advancement rules. Certain things proved very badly balanced long term, but the living rulebooks have fixed the problems well. Its a testament to the original system that it has grown so much in popularity even after GW sidelined the game long ago.
living rulebook is free:
