Spring RTS Engine

Was wondering if anyone would be interested in hosting a Spring Minecraft server.

I would but my connection is shitty so I wouldn't be able to host many players.

Anyone else interested or anyone who could host one.

Would be fun to kill time :p

i'll definitely be hosting one once SMP is reasonable... no mine carts, no redstone, no damage etc make it kinda boring compared to SSP

(amirite? maybe its a sign of masochism, but its more fun getting hurt and killed)

I dont think they can be arsed to host a server for them
IIRC they still got financial troubles with the Master Server

Afaik minecraft server was running on springrts.com for some time. I guess lurker was behind it.

That is not good, minecraft server occasionally tanks the server. Please do not run one here

That was creative mode, which didn't take hundreds of megs and leak on top of that. I stuck it here because it was tiny and virtualization bugs kept me from running it elsewhere.

This server could theoretically handle a SMP server, but it would be a large resource allocation.

Tanks what server, smoth? Java should ALWAYS be passed a maximum heap size, and once you do that the worst it can do is crash.

Also I have SMP hosted but it's offline for another day or so while I try to get some Hell on it despite no portals.

There is some bug with the lighting engine that takes up the cpu. Notch mentioned it in his blog.

any of you guys try the damage / pvp mods? sounds good, but sort of broken...

One thread using all available CPU shouldn't tank anything.
