Did anybody try it yet?
I will be able to try it on sunday evening.

Its supposed to be better than fallout3 in some aspects but also technoligaclly behind. (but what do I care?)

I was a big fan of fallout3 and the best thing was exploring and side quests.

I don't know why but I really didn't like Fallout 3 at all. I bought the game last Christmas and have still only played it about 4, maybe 5 times in total for probably an a piece. It's still sitting on my game shelf about 75cm away from my face.

Don't get me wrong, I like adventure games, I played Oblivion for a few months when I bought it, I loved it, but I just didn't like the feel of Fallout 3 at all. It's worth mentioning I'd never played a Fallout game before so maybe it's something to do with the story line, I'm not sure.

Generally though, I didn't like most things about the game, the story, the interface, the weapons, the physics and character choices. I think I probably just felt it was too uninteresting to be liked. Everything just felt real slow too...

It's a shame seeing as I heard so much praise about Fallout 3, I guess it just wasn't a game made for me :(

If you'd played and liked proper Fallout games you'd just dislike 3 even more.

What I've heard of NV though seems good - the combat still sucks but the atmosphere/story/dialogue should be better than in 3.

Oh come on! The old fallout games where isometric.
I wish i could bind you to a chair and make you play fallout1 for 36 hours, you would kill yourself.

I hate games nostalgia.

It is a game where you have a lot of freedom and very often the possibility to solve a problem in different ways thats what makes this game great.
I yet have to meet somebody that doesnt like it.

I don't particularly like being given lots of options in games, it often leaves me thinking "What would have happened if I had chosen the alternative?" or leaves me with the feeling that I've missed some epic cutscene or that I'm just picking the wrong thing.

Pfff fallout 2 is super game classic...
It's dialogues are awesome and world diverse, inventive and crazy.
Fallout 3 was boring zzzz.
All the fps parts were utter crap...Shit shooting and aiming mechanics, I didnt like the visuals and the engine was the same one used for oblivion and looked inappropriate for a fallout game..
What could have saved it was the story and dialogues but they were boring and mostly uninteresting, with a few exceptions of course.
The world was also pretty limited and dumb compared to fallout 2...in fallout 2 you could do all sorts of crazy shit and somehow the world's logic didnt completely crumble..

Do you have that in life too?

No I just quicksave then shoot them in the face, see what happens quickload.

One great example was I talked the residents of a luxery tower to let these fredy kruger faces in because they are normal human beings.
Turns out, they eliminated the residents later and there is no human left.

I just stayed with this option because I thought this is awesome how a game can suprise me.
That adds to the morbid charme of fallout3 like the cannibal village etc etc.
Gota wrote: All the fps parts were utter crap...Shit shooting and aiming mechanics,
Thats true but I guess they werent brave enough to take out the FPS shooting completely.
Gota wrote:Pfff fallout 2 is super game classic...
Fallout 3 too.
When I talk about it to people it turns out a lot of them played this game, people I didnt even know were gaming.
They know all the city names what they did there etc.. its crazy.
Like "Oh what!! You didnt blow up megaton? Do it!"

my biggest mistake in 2008 was buying fallout 3, the second biggest was buying the censored version... that game was good for one thing: shooting off limbs

f3 was a very pretty game, but way too easy considering the good challenges to be had in old fallouts

fallout tactics was possibly my favourite

i bought f3 for ps3, finished it, played some more and sold it. if someone is fan of fallouts he should play f3... just coz its fallout. it works same for NV but i dont expect much. same as above (tho NV got quite good notes)

f2 is still sex, bomb in childs pocket <3

you couldnt do in realistsick 3d graphixs what you could describe in isometric text-windows. Text is the cheapest medium- doesent need animation, doesent need modelling, is not read by illiterate censors, who rage at visible grafix, which is why 3d in this case limits - after all, you expect a postnuke society to be on the moral rundown

I went over to a friend's house today actually and was supposed to play a bit (didn't really; got distracted). Got through the character creation process and shot a mutated ram, so I haven't actually played any of it yet properly.

For some reason I was a bit disappointed there are absolutely no new facial customization options from fallout 3 (everything is exactly the same) and character creation was much less fun than the GOAT/stats in 3. (they give an inkblot test and some completely inane non-funny questions)

How you could live after being shot in the head sounds very suspect, hopefully the plot will make sense of everything later on.

Also it was on a console so I couldn't control my dude right or read anything.

Anyway, those are all just nitpicks, I think it will be as good if not better than fallout3 (can't really compare to first two - completely different game styles) as new vegas incorporates some stuff that was modded in for fallout3 (food/drink/survival/weaponkits) + working ironsights and better melee, hooray!

Just bought it today.

I enjoyed the much shorter character creation. It was to the point and got the job done. The whole process from Fallout 3 was cool the first time, but a pain afterwards.

Liking the different weapon selection so far. Really excited to see where this game goes.

Never buy the version that went trough the censors.
I always take the english one just to be safe.

I had a good laugh when I read on steam that they want my money but they only give me a crippled version, great.

This would make the fps mode not so useless, when you could actually make some hits with your fps skill and not with the aiming system.

In f3 you would aim correctly but there was still the chance of missing so by no means could you have a better chance than with the aiming system.
With iron sights I hope when you aim right its a hit.

man i wished i could frankenstein myself a country, picking the uncensored part of the us, the social security part from germany, the creative part out of california, the technophile stylness from japan, and get the remainders into a garbage bin, were they could form up into a fatgolem called "asshole-country" were the censors consens with another, the psychotic antisocial can fight it out with them, using stone age weapons.

But this reality wont go away.

Tactics wasn't a bad game, just wasn't a fallout game - fallout is all about the lone wanderer and the harshness of post apocalyptic world, with a touch of twisted humor. In NV, I think the magic is back. Haven't played much yet, but liked it so far.

Oh and yeah, iron sights works and loading animations are decent, so definently much better fps experience.
