You should try it. Impulse version has Starforce DRM but it's disabled and doesn't actually affect your system in any way. Doesn't install any drivers, doesn't do anything. It's just there, and never becomes active in any sense. So don't worry about it, it won't hurt you.

If at all possible get it with the "Reloaded" expansion.
