...but I don't see why people find that israeli telecom commercial so offensive. I'm not too keen on Israel's behaviour (nor that of its rivals) but the commercial is pretty clearly just expressing the idea of communication across barriers.

Seems like a silly thing to get upset over to me. *shrug*

I doubt that's the situation at all and if a ball came over, they'd probably shove a bomb in it and kick it back. If the soldiers are being portrayed the opposite of what they really are, then it's worth getting upset about if you're one of them.

by the way,I am still waiting for Israeli courts to be as welcoming to Muslims as to try and ban mosque towers or the Hijab,maybe when Israel is as liberal and multicultural as Europe,until than i guess they can carry on pursuing their own religion as they see fit even if it includes building mosque towers or wearing a veil on their faces(also maybe beards should be banned as well?).

imagine, wherever you live, china invade your country, put wall everywhere, block everything coming in so you can't even eat one's fill, you can't get out or do anything, and then, they make an ad showing soldier playing with locals because ... they're not that bad, they just want peace nothing else, the bad people are the suicide bombers because they kill nice soldiers and innocent people ... it's called propaganda, and as you can see it works since you don't even understand what's wrong

I am willing to throw some points at you(for you to examine and try and challenge) and refute these silly analogies in the lobby.
I'f you truly seek to come closer to the truth than you wouldn't mind giving me the benefit of the doubt and hearing me out.if you refuse after making such harsh claims than i think ill have the right to call YOUR arguments propaganda and say they are one sided.

the thing is im not part of neither side unlike you, AND, i really don't fuckin care about israel and palestine, if i could i'd nuke the whole area and put chinese instead to produce closer to europe, and you know, the suicide bombers and the missiles won't stop because you argue with me ...

I wish threads like this didn't get automatically locked for being controversial or whatever. We're an international community and just pretending nothing ever happens in the world is a little silly IMHO. All countries have faults. Canadians for example have just got this thing about clubbing adorable animals to death and then tearing their skin off. I don't know what it is, I just can't get enough of it. Greatest hobby ever.

There are strong arguments against pretty much every faction involved in the issue, but I don't really think Satirik's analogies are particularly appropriate in any sense. I am curious, what exactly is your stance and perspective as a more or less involved party, Gota? I am hesitant to attempt to determine it solely from the points you have put forth considering what they were targeted at.

The territories,The west bank and the gaza strip,were taken by Israel after several wars starting with the Israeli independence war in which all Israel's neighboors attacked it including the arabs living in what is now known as the territories.
The reason A Palestinian state does not exist is that when it was announced together with Israel the Palestinians refused the offer hoping to take everything after the attack on Israel(the Israeli independance war).
This line of thought still persists in the Palestinian collective mind(or at least of it's leadership).
at no time did they agree to knowledge Israel,they never proclaimed they want to live beside it or sign any peace treaties.
Both fatah(ruler of the west bank) and Hamas(ruler of the gaza strip)say and write in their charters they want to destroy Israel the one uses national motives the other religious.
After the Israeli independence war the gaza strip was controlled by Egypt and the west bank by Jordan.
These territories were never a Palestinian state in any way.
After the war following the Independence war Israel pushed the arab forces off the west bank and gaza strip but after that Egypt and Jordan refused to take these territories back even though Israle offered it and even though they(jordan and egypt) were the only occupier of these territories after the british.
After that slowly Palestinian nationallists started mounting terror acts Some of the more noteworthy ones are the Munich attack on the Israeli team and the hijacking of the passenger plain that was flown to Africa .
The harsh limitation on the territories now are a result of a long process and so is the wall.
The wall is an ugly thing but it achieved its goal,it stopped terror acts inside Israel.

What you have to understand is that the core issue is the unwillingness of the Palestinians both in the gaza strip and the west bank to accept Israel as its neighboor.
As soon as they do there will be peace just like there is peace with Egypt and Jordan.

Now may I ask, could you explain in similar historical detail, from your own perspective, how the formation of Israel in the first place wasn't just a giant "terrorists attack here" signal?

Plunk a whole civilization down in the middle of another one, then tell them, "here's the part of the land we want, here's the part you can have, peace?"... it seems like a recipe for disaster.

A Jewish state should've been formed somewhere safe and sparsely populated. The symbolic value of Jerusalem is nice and all, but someplace on the German countryside (which might have actually been somewhat appropriate) would have avoided decades of bloodshed.
