This topic confused me so I decided not to post in it and moved on.

At first sight of that small pic - yes. But you quickly realize it's just his glove...

His right foot is sort of strange too at first sight - especially as that demon below him seems to be the only one who has a gun for a hand...

• Right hand is rly carrying a submachinegun (which isn't even present in doom).
• Left hand, with the black glove so close from the demon fireball, looks like it's holding another black weapon with a muzzleflare.
• Right foot ends up touching a demon weaponised arm, so it looks a bit like doomguy right foot is a weapon.

I think it's actually meant to be a ripped open armor just like for his right upper leg. When you look closely you even can see some slight "claw scars" like he has on his right leg too...

The best thing on the cover probably is the waving 2nd marine though. His presence doesn't really makes sense but hey - at least he isn't useful in any way either...

The best one besides the arms and weapons is the guy in the back waving like "Hey wait dont shoot they are my friends!"

And what is the thing right at the bottom? Looks like another weapon... Maybe this is the version of doom where you play as a demon who tries to kill humans and the cover is 1st person view of it.

the guy running in the background is obviously the player.
the guy in front is just some poser/show off. and the player character is jealous of his buddys six pack.
and so the story is that in blind rage all the women that admire the sixpack dude look like monsters and so you kill them all.
