i live in a constant modeler's block. try drawing stuff, i dunno. Learn something new and model something to test that new knowledge, usually works for me

Go for a long walk, and look at everything around you. Go to a museum (doesn't matter what it is a museum of). Now that weather's nicer in most of the northern hemisphere, maybe find a cafe or coffee-house with an outside table, grab some paper and pen and just doodle for a few hours.

IOW, get out of the house for a bit. It's better to do something like the above (imo) because, unlike going for a beer with your buddies, these sorts of activities help settle and refresh your right brain (imo).

When out of ideas in your head, look outside it for inspiration

I agree. I think that doing those things might help.

You could also look at some pictures of other places or ask people about things that they've seen and thought was interesting. I hear that Darwin Island has some very unusual rock formations and creatures like blue-footed boobies and tortoises.

There are also things like clear, under water sea grass meadows with starfish and seahorses in it. I could list some more things, but I'm not sure of exactly what you have in mind.

When I get that, I like to watch futuristic movies, or watch futuristic movies/tv shows. Or I'll look up concept cars. All the while, I keep a list of things that grab my attention, taking screenshots if possible and organizing them into folders depending on what sort of thing they are - airplanes, cars, tanks, weapons, gadgets, etc.

If you've got some cash burning a hole in your pocket, a drawing tablet might help you conceptualize stuff. Buying one has helped me a lot.

Go to a war museum or something with a camera. Go nuts. Farm machinery and railway machinery is also pretty cool.

Do something different. If you're only making rts units try a spaceship, or a gun, or a character. Anything that's not what you've been doing lately.

Just do something other stuff, write, act, direct, whatever, till the brakes kick in there, then return towards the 3dsmax.

get a hold of some k'nex, lego, mechano, etc (i normally use lego)

great for tinkering and getting the 'modeling' juices flowing

You could look at cool looking planes:

or think about how you can add different flares to your work.
