Personally I'm waiting at least a year to jump into 3D... it seems like that's one of those aspects of technology that's improving in leaps and bounds right now and I'd rather give Sumsang, Sonya, Vizio and Maxent a chance to drive the market prices down... Also I saw this news story about this guy who has developed a 2HD3D (2 full 1080p images presented simultaneously using polarized light (instead of battery operated shutter glasses providing one image to each eye each second frame)) System involving Lasers... so I'll wait to see if that actually happens... Also I'm kinda poor right now anyway.

Those solutions cost many tens of thousands of dollars. This screen was only $100 more than a standard one of its size, so I bought it as a second monitor. In 5 years when the big players have something almost affordable, that's great too. I'll have 5 years of decent 3D until then. Works with Spring, Youtube (yt3d) and more.

That's cool... I have a pair of 17" CRT... I suppose I could cross my eyes?
(Made up more bogus knock-off TV manufacturer names Bradvia, Hibachi, Mistubishi, RGA)

You forgot Sorny and Magnetbox.
Actually, if you're in the Toronto area head over to the Pacific Mall. They sell knockoff products from China that actually do have these names.

I'm nowhere near Toronto (well, 5 hours drive)... but I have been to that mall... there was this really cool little computer store/internet gaming lounge/arcade there called cell or egg or something... is that place still there?

Funny, I've lived in Hamilton my whole life and I still haven't been there. Worth a shopping trip?

unfortunately, after a crackdown last year, pacific mall is pretty much devoid of any shady dealings (the pirated DvDs and knockoff electronics are still there i think but hidden under counters) so really all its good for any more is buying bags of asian snacks
you know the snacks, the ones that have a picture on the bag to tell you exactly what the prawn chips WONT taste like.
i still go from time to time and play foosball in the arcade, there are some good players there

That's sad... Do they still have the guy who will write your name on a grain of rice?

Too bad. I can get all the crazy Japanese candy I want right here in Hamilton - there's a typically-surreal Japanese candy-shop in our half-dead downtown mall. Who wants dried sweet cuttlefish? I know I do!

I think I need to move to Japan... I spent 3 weeks there at the end of HighSchool and it was one of the happiest times of my life... I wonder what the job market for "Slackers who never graduated College" is in Japan right now?

haha the rice guy remains.
my personal favourite shady place to buy stuff was "dundas mall"! right across from the eatons centre, it had sort of a mad max feel to it... little stalls inside barely larger than closets
i bought a pair of brand new air jordans for $50 there; there was a footlocker tag on the box with the price scratched out in permanent marker.
my friend bought a fake ID from a stall that only seemed to sell IDs and hot pants printed with various 80s metal band logos
i like those lychee nut jelly snacks sealed in the individual bubbles...
