Hi guys.
I currently have both Linux and XP on my machine, with a Radeon HD3850 256mb card, 2gb of ram and a core2duo e4400. Here is my problem: When I try to load the game in XP (i.e. starting or joining a battle), the screen becomes full of colourful noise, there is no image what so ever other than rainbow noise... and shortly afterwards my computer reboots the screen and says that the videocard had to restart as it wasn't responding correctly or something... Strange thing is, Spring works fine under my linux OS - no problems at all. I have Catalyst 8.5 under XP and 8.4 under Linux. I previously had 8.1 on XP but that had the same problem, hence why I upgraded to 8.5
I also have dual monitors... but I have tried enabling dual monitor support, with the same result. I have also tried disabling the second monitor and just having my 22" widescreen running, but still the same problem.
What's the deal? Also, when I was running it under linux and added a bot on the AAI profile, no matter what mod i was running it would complain the AI was brokem (CA, BA, NOTA, PURE etc.). I also tried KAI, NTAI and JAI and and they either crashed the game on loading (depending on what mod i was using) or gave me the AI broken error.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Total graphical corruption
for the AI, the default AIs were broken
for the graphics problem, a screen full of colorful misc blocks happened to me when I had an unstable video card (fx 5950 ultra with bad second ram chip, so when the memory filled up to a certain point, it splattered)
not sure why it would work in linux and not windows, other than the fact it's using completely different drivers :)

Re: Total graphical corruption
Well I doubt its my video card considering that every other game runs without a problem (including Crysis, Supreme Commander etc) and I never get artifacts, which are typical of videocards overheating or being faulty (I know because Ive had four bad video cards). It works on my brothers machine under XP, same as mine except he has a HD2900xt. Must be something to do with the compatability of the engine with the 3800 series?
Re: Total graphical corruption
It'd more have to do with the compatibility of the 3800 series [windows] drivers with ogl

Come to think of it you must be right - I had a try playing the free game Celestial Impact the other day (Which Im fairly sure is based on the Quake3 source, so it's totally OpenGL) and I also had massive graphical corruption... but ACTUAL commercial games that use OGL like Quake3 and UT99, UT2004 etc. all run without a problem.

Re: Total graphical corruption
Surely it has to be something fixable, I'm not going to resign myself to not being able to play it on Windows - as it turns out my Linux Spring will faithfully crash and hang the entire system after an indeterminable period of time, every time I play. Twice now I have been lost out in an awesome FFA because of that stupid crash... My video card has no problems running most other OpenGL applications.

Re: Total graphical corruption
So no one has any ideas as to why it will run under Linux and not Windows? I want it to work under XP, because the Linux one seems to be quite unstable (Latest SVN release, mod and AI versions) in that it crashes regularly and locks the machine up.
