UF has died now...
What will spring use as the whole map getter thing? CA Downloader seems pretty sweet and faster then UF was for me back when I used to play O.o
http://www.spring-portal.com/ seems nice...but it took me forever to actually find a map without a search button D: anyways I guess what im asking is...will spring ever integrate CA Downloader with the client?

Yes, we do indeed need this discussion again.

There are like 4-7 websites which are mostly mirrored so you can choose which one you like best. CADownloader is obviously the best though.

Seems like there should be some sort of search function implemented into the lobby. Something robust enough that the actual location of the server can be easily updated and ammended, even if the actual host dies or moves, or whatever, so that players can easily be given the option of flipping between mirrors. Something similar to the CA downloader functionality, but implemented into the lobby system.

We are integrating a client for licho's p2p tracker into springlobby. We'll make sure that the user can modify the address of the tracker in case that changes.
I think this gives a maximum of robustness and usability.

Yeah, default cadownloader comes with 2 backup central server trackers so it should be very reliable.
It also uses 7 existing websites as http mirrors to speed up downloads.

And default BB search is lacking... You can only search separate words. I often have to google site:http://spring.clan-sy.com "the phrase I want to search".

There's always...

http://www.filefront.com (You probably already considered this and not used it for some reason. Thought I'd throw it in just in case.)
Levels4you.com (If you can convince them to make a TA Spring section)

Hope that helps C:

If you got your own section at L4Y that would add new players, mappers, and modders as well. I thought you guys might like to know. L4Y is kind of underground but the people there are really into map making. There's literally thousands of differnt maps. I'm a map maker also, but I'm not sure how to make maps for this and I cant even get the thing working lol.

Well, get it working, and then see into it yourself - I think since you have experience in that community already, you'd be the best one to start such a thing.

Ok, I've got it working after reinstalling. I'll make a post at L4Y asking about them adding a section. About how many mappers/modders would actually add stuff to there site?
