Squad/clan password..

welcome another step in my epic quest to encourage squad activity.

(If anything related is already being discussed elsewhere point me in that direction) :wink:

Right.

What I mean is the addition of extra lobby commands to help squadcreation/recruiting.

For instance

.Squadcreate=Squadname:Password (For squad creation)
(example .Squadcreate=Boobs:boobs)
thus adding the squadname and its password to a simple database hidden away in the backround of the lobby server. And in turn logging the player out and back in with the new squadname. Eg: [boobs]Final

then

.Squadjoin=Squadname:password (for a player wishing to join the squad)
checks the squad database for the squadname, and then checks the password against that name. If the password is correct, the player is then logged out and name is changed etc....And the players name is added to the database linked to that squadname

.squadleave (removes player from squad)

The database will also remember the name of the squad creator who the has additional commands of:

(all self explanitory)

.Squadpassword=(newpassword)
.Kickplayer=(idiotsnamehere)
.Squadgrant=(newsquadowner)
.squadend:password <---deletes squad

One other usefull command could be:
.squadowner=squad (so players can find out who owns the squad..and then in turn beg them for the password)

Like I said. I have no idea if anything like this is in the pipes already.

I was beginning to worry that no one was reading it, and just talking about squads instead.

I perhaps didn't quite clarify the ideas(and the points behind them) correctly, but I was assuming that anyone with any mild design background would make sense of it.....

Lazy of me......

would be better to call it clan.

Squad doesn't work for a group of commanders.

I like your ideas, but i think you would need a command to change the clan password incase anyone you kick out of the clan will just re-join, or a ban command or somthing. Also i think clan tag could be highlighted in a different colour so that you can tell its not just part of their name.

To however will implement this (maybe aegis), maybe its a good idea to connect clan tags to lobby chat channels, so user kicking..etc can handled by the channel commands.

Attaching a tag to a channel would cause everyone in the channel to have the specified tag in front of his name.

Doesn't have to be, I'm just suggesting that a lot of work can be saved by using chat channels to manage user access to a tag. It can be optional.
