audit/Smoke/Fire/Dgun issue

well when I installed spring the first thing I saw in game was press F11 to choose audits, but I want to get rid of this message and the eyes. I was told to remove Eyes.lua from audit folder, that seems to have sorted this issue but I am thinking that is not the only way, oh and press F11 takes screens.
second is that I cant see weapons fire smoke and fire in game, this stuff was working in older version of Spring that I dloaded earlier, it seems to have been replaced with black pixels instead in the newer version...
I am using ATI Raedon(sp?) 9600 card with everything at max doesnt seem to effect if I am using max settings or not...
any ideas ?
