Spring RTS Engine

I can't get the save function to work using XTA or SimBase. The game simply refuses to create a save file. I have tried punching the F8 and shift+F8 key combinations repeatedly, and nothing happens. (And no, my keyboard isn't broken, I already checked.)

I know that older bots don't work with save games, but that is not my problem.

I am using the version 0.76b1, which I am very happy with, other than this.
