i have been having connection problems for the past few months.
basiclly what happens is that when the lobby trys to connect to the server it takes it very long to log in and take the info from the server...it just times out or disconnects a few seconds after it connects.

i though it might be my isp so i asked them to prioritize the loby servers ip,they did.
Still it didnt work.
I changed my isp.it still doesnt work...of course i though about the possibility of something blocking my connection.
i disabled and deleted my antivirus,i have no firewall and the windows firewall is always disabled on my systen
I use 2 progs vs spyware addaware and such.Thery are addawar 6 and spybot.
even when i open cmd and do a netstat there are no conncetions except my own..nothing is connectiong to the net ...so im clean..a lso noticed i can connect to the lobbies server at night which made me think it was my isp afterall and not a spyware or an addaware.

As i said i changed isp, still i cant connect.Thing is from other computers i can connect at all times.
WTF is wrong!!!please help me!!!

To avoid fucked up os related problem :

- make a fresh install of windows xp sp2 on another hard drive
- disable firewall
- if u use a router, redirect all the ports (1-65536) on your local network ip
- install spring and play

I wouldn't blame my Isp before I am sure of my software and hardware.

Or you could blame the server itself?

Have you tried aflobby and spring lobby rather than tasclient? What about satiriks svn versions?

But most of all, does the same problem happen if you plug your mode/router into a different computer and try the same setup?

download ethereal for windows (if you're on windows), you'll need two files, the ethereal executable and the adapter. You need to run a packet sniff as bibim said and check what's going on.

It sounds like something maybe competing on the same port as tasclient which causes your connection to drop.

yea

Make sure nothing else is running, spyware and adware should be set to not be autoupdating if they are, that could be taking your port.

If you have Steam, EXIT IT. No duh there.

Use your adware and spybot and do scans in both.

Make sure to ENABLE windows firewall once it works. Test that then if that's an issue, play with the settings.

what i dont understand is that if the problem is in my comp how come i can connect at night???but in day time i cant? that obviously point to network overload..but..i can connect to the server from other comp all the time...weird..im currently downloading that ethereal program.but can i have stuff using my connection without me seeing them in netstat?

If you can connect at night, it sounds like your ISP is restricting traffic/doing traffic shaping during the day. I've heard that most Israeli ISPs do something similar, I think you may be buggered.

Ya i,v heard that .tbh i never felt it with mt conn..always downloaded at max speeds whenever i wanted.so the only thing that can be is if they are blocking whole ranges of ipes or maybe blovking ports? i dont really know what they can do...

i have that problem sometimes. What i do is:

Turn my router off and on then see if it works, if not restart computer and see if it works, if not then turn my router off and on then see if it works, if not restart computer and see if it works, if not then turn my router off and on then see if it works, if not restart computer and see if it works, if not then turn my router off and on then see if it works, if not restart computer and see if it works, if not then turn my router off and on then see if it works, if not restart computer and see if it works.

Eventually it will work.
