When installing new and try to get ona server, the answer "yes" on the question for downloading a map or a mod leads to a dead link.

maybe you have changeed the website and not updated the technically Ingame-Link?

And he automatic download of the mod after request would be better than homepage-downloading, i guess

Thats all i want to say

We used to have integrated downloading (even a map and mod browser in the lobby) but then our traffic took down the server hosting the files and overran their bandwidth limits to the extent that they wouldn't have been able to afford keeping it online.

The Unknown-Files came along and cup had a pile of bandwidth but we were driving traffic to his site without his adds being seen so he had us link to the "download page" for the file instead. Unfortunately his hosting company had some issues right around the time he was trying to upgrade his site interface and everything broke to the point where (this is just me guessing) he became disheartened and hasn't fully restored it again.

So the short answer is yes, we know it's broken, yes we know it would be awesome if we fixed it but until Unknown-Files is fixed or someone else with a gigabyte of available bandwidth per day or so and a the gumption to step forward and integrate a solution into the lobby we aren't gonna get it in the immediate future.... Are you volunteering by the way?

Sorry to disappoint, this was the feature that made this game playable for me about a year ago and I'm sad to see you all living without it. It was great when you downloaded the lobby... saw someone playing a map and just downloaded it on the spot... you still needed to restart to play a different mod but at least the link to download it went straight to the download instead of a black hole where you might get lucky and be able to search for it. It made the whole "getting into spring" process a lot less painful.

No he isn't. He's failing at giving me admin rights on UF as we speak. ;)

Sorry, im only a german and dont untersstand english so good. Its not because im bad in english its because of my eye, they werer operated 2 month ago and i hope, i can see clear in 1-2 years first time in my life.

But the word "volunteering " i dont understand what you mean?

You mean, if i could possibly host that files with the trafic?

If you mean that, i must say, when i getlucky, i "could do that in 2 month...

I must rent a rootserver for 3 games i want to host, one is my own game in programming phase, i hope, i ever get thet game finished and can host it but i would wonder, it it will work before 1020, because i have to make it alone :(

So thanks for the Info, i hope, i understand your answer correctle, thet dthe dead link is eause of a "data Crash" and the direct download ist not realstic because of the traffic problem, was that right?

If yes, thean thanks a lot, now i look, if i could fix the game or delete it and install new after the collapse. of the game.

I only wanted to inform about the dead link and post an idea *g*

bye

Sorry, that is what I meant but I was being facetious at the time.

I wasn't directly reacting to your post but intending to inform anyone who was wondering the same thing.
