DxSound fatal error message, I need help

When I start a battle on spring it does not reach the loading screen it just comes up with the fatal error message of"DxSound: could not create direct sound object", what can I do to fix this problem?

Well you need to fix your sound e.g. reinstall sound drivers or whatever. This is not a spring specific problem.

Or, if you don't mind playing without sound, you could set the registry key MaxSounds to 0 in Software\SJ\Spring (IIRC).

how do you re install a sound driver?
