Solution to some ati related crashes

Recently I was having some problems with Spring after upgrading to the latest ati driver. The upgrade caused my 9600xt to overheat very quickly which in turn caused the computer to reboot itself.
Unfortunately staying on the older drivers was not an option because the latest were needed to play another game. Finally figured out a solution was to underclock the graphics card, preventing it from overheating. I did this using the ATITool utility and adjusting the clock speed from 500 to ~350 when playing spring.
Anyway, noticed a lot of ati related angst on these forums so thought I'd post up in the hope it may help someone else out :)
