Yeah. I hate it. It was fine when i could dgun own units, now my commander tries to find a place where it doesnt hit my units >_>
Like when im trying to kill enemy, it doesnt dgun, because there is my fucking mex front of my dgun.
or something like that i noticed when i last time played spring... i might been in drugs or something, but if im wrong, then, uh. nevermind me.

So what is causing this bug?

Should be fixed in svn.

I hope it's tied to the weapon being noexplode? It's not fun to have a weapon that shoots friendlies in the back.

it's actually fixed by treating CMD_DGUN specially. Usual attack commands shouldn't be affected at all, even if they use the same weapon.
Oh BTW, I also changed it so you can't click on units with dgun. It'll still work of provided a unitID as a parameter (e.g. by LuaUI.)

Wait, cant click units? So if you click on a unit with d-gun, it will target the ground beneath it?
Is that with the d-gun command (Which works on any weapon, incl guided missiles which need a unit target) even in other mods?
Does this mean no more d-gunning planes?

The command, if given a single parameter via e.g. LuaUI, will target units, but will be broken in the same way as in 75b2. I might try to fix it also for the unit case, but can't promise anything, it's a more complex case.
Nothing's stopping a LuaUI widget to change the type of dgun command so it allows units to be targeted again, it's just not default since it's broken.

If you can't click on enemy units to dgun, expect 98.5% of players complaining about it angrily, that's a critical feature for any TA based mod.

Miscommunication on my part. You can click on the units, you can't target them (as in, you'll target the ground beneath them.)

Well, the critical thing is if tonnes of flash spam are rushing your com that you can dgun at a very high rate of fire with accuracy.

Yeah and you're probably not clicking directly on the tank you want to dgun if it's moving, right?

Well typically there are more than one tank and who knows what your clicking on.

This also occurs with other objects. I bitched about it in #warc a while ago which is when NOiZE reported it.
Even if you try and dgun the ground just behind an object it won't work. It's especially annoying with trees, rocks, corpses etc that tend to occur in large numbers on a lot of maps (and corpses on all of them).
Basically what happens is your commander will try to walk to a location where he can dgun the point you've selected without having to dgun through an "obstruction" in the way.
Scenario:
10 flash are approaching your comm, you have no units/statics to defend him
You try to dgun but there is a tree/rock/corpse somewhere between your commander and his dgun target.
Instead of firing the dgun, your commander decides to take a less environmentally destructive line of fire (WTF?!) and will walk forwards towards the dgun target (and thus, walk straight into the flash), past whatever is in between the target and the comm, until he can find a place with no obstructions, at which point he will fire (at which time you probably miss because the flash have moved since you gave the order).
Your comm dies 2 seconds later from walking into the flash swarm because he wanted to save the tree that was obstructing.
Rage quit from Spring.
Join an anti-environmentally friendly organisation, work at a coal mine or become a lumber jack in spiteful revenge against the tree that owned you.
GG.
