Q: How to run a game server?

G'day guys,

I'm starting to write some maps and as I'm in Australia the times when I can host my maps doesn't work well with the rest of the world.

So I was thinking I could host games on my PC while I'm at work or asleep (which would work best with EU and America).

Question is, how do I do this? Is there somewhere I can go to find out about how to do this? Obviously I wish to limit this to just the maps that I write, mainly to find out if the maps are popular and find out how they play.

/MetalSkin.

PS tried looking in the wiki, couldn't find bugger all.

you mean singleplayer?

Spring SP (preferable)
or
run spring.exe manually and use the menus

Nope. I mean run a server. I presume they do it via bots/scripts... I'm talking about things like XTA_AutoHost_#, etc.

Ahh thanks for that... found spirngie on the forums here

Maybe there should be a wiki entry about it. unless you know the exact term (eg. springie or autohost) your sorta screwed trying to find info.

Again, thanks for the info.

No worries, I might skim the appropriate threads for info and flesh out the wiki a little bit then.
