Land units underwater

It can happen that land units end up underwater, either because of impulse or terrain deformation. They can't get out, they can't do anything. Shouldn't there be something like destroying those units or at least having them take constant damage?

Now I remember a time, I blew one of my troopers into the middle of a lake by blowing a building up next to him... I don't have any sea units though, so I can't even get to it to kill it...

If I recall, they take some sort of global damage. If not, they should take pressure based damage.

Well they take damage from falling, but often still survive underwater.

I remember Flashes distinctly taking damage on a mostly water map in the past, but it could have been delayed impact damage.

Can transports get trapped land units out of the water?

Transports should be able to pick up those units, I don't remember there being any checks for a valid position on loading units into them (there is a check on unloading though).

Last i checked, units flying in water makes them warp back to their last good location the same way as it does when they hit unpassable terrain or go off the map (Which is annoying and dumb looking and makes large impulse values and such unusable).

Terrain deformation works, though you can always restore ground..

Transports indeed can pick underwater units up, but i dont think any of the ones in BA can (not 100% of that, but certainly not the air ones).

You know what works best though? FPS him. When in FPS mode, if you are on invalid terrain you can cross into other invalid terrain (You can drive ships around on perfectly flat ground if you .give them on it with FPS, for example). Though this is exploitable since it means you can cross all sorts of invalid terrain as long as you can get yourself onto a bad piece to begin with, the time and effort it takes (and the de-bugging opportunities it presents with all sorts of stuck units) make it the sort of thing that shouldnt be fixed.

I guess you guys have never had to remove a .taken com from the ege of the map?

I never realized that this goes as far as to allow you to pass through ALL invalid terrain, but thanks for telling me. :P

As for water, I've seen several instances where units dropped into water, then slowly died. To counter that, I've also seen instances where the same conditions don't cause any damage. Glitch?

Oh, a specific case of this would be if you had a Recluse moving across a vertical wall surface, and you knocked it down, it would drop into the water then die. Sometimes the Recluse even falls down on its own, guess it lost it's grip?
