Possible High Game Speed bug

My game's been crashing a lot lately, and I've finally noticed that what seems to be the common thread is I setup a game or a replay and I use cheats and set the max speed to 10, and then let the game run at like 4x or 5x+ for a while. For some reason I guess the game can't keep up with itself like it did last version and it crashes once the game gets going in earnest.
Anyone else notice something like this?
I've got an AMD dual core 2.2 Ghz processor. If that's of any use. I could look up the specifics if needed.
