Spring locks up when choosing mod

Whenever I start Spring with spring.exe, I can choose the script, I can choose the map, but when I choose what mod I want to try Spring locks up completely, and I don't get the loading screen. I can CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game and end it, and am running Vista Premium. Why does this happen?
I have no infolog, because Spring doesn't crash, just lock up.
