Invalid characters in lobby

I'm not entirely sure what characters you can't use now but in usernames and channels you can't use [] anymore. This seriously affects clans, which are usually shown with a [<clanname>] tag. This kills the #[] channel. As far as I can tell, this is a client restriction, although I'm not sure. It's a bit weird in any case.
woops, you can use short name channels again. guess this was changed recently. still, the [] username issue is really horrible.

(10:37:12 AM) tvo: theres also a bug in that TASServer doesnt accept [] in user names anymore, maybe it does the same for channel names
It's server-side. In local, you can send raw commands, and it's the server that rejects them. Here is what I found about #[].
Trying to join:
Unable to join channel #Bad (channel name ("#[]"). Reason: Channel name contains invalid characters)
after JOINing #Bad and typing !info:
<ChanServ> [CYBRAN]lurker: Channel #Bad is registered as a static channel, no further info available!
PMing !info #[]:
<ChanServ> Channel #[] info: Anti-spam protection is off. Founder is <[]AF>, 2 registered operators are <[]Cookiebot>, <[]slurbot>.

Still broken for channels.
