Random enemies spawn.txt and Commander building

Hi guys, a couple of questions - I've searched the forums, but theres so much stuff here I've not been able to find a useful answer:

1) I've tried to use the randomly spawning enemies mode, but nothing happened - no enemies. I searched my installation for a spawn.txt - couldn't find one. I made a spawn.txt in the Spring root folder (same folder as the exe) containing "2000 corstorm" - which I thought should spawn a Storm unit after 1 minute. At some point - possibly a minute - Spring crashed. I deleted the space, and just nothing happened.
Does anyone have a working spawn.txt they can share with me?

Also
2) In Spring, the Commander can build the Advanced construction yards. I'm sure he couldn't in TA. I'm guessing this is on purpose - is there an !original TA tech tree" mod?

Anyway, sorry again if these have been asked a million times - kudos on the project, this is an amazing piece of work. :-)

BOTA (Basically OTA) has the closest buildtree and balance to OTA.

Thanks for that. Is there somewhere the decision to change the build tree is documented? I'd be interested to see the reasoning behind it, heh.

It's been like that for ages in xta (the ta-mod that comes with spring)...you can discuss it at http://xta.wolfgame.org/forum

Spring is not to blame for any changes from TA, the modders who make the mods you play are.

Currently, there is no game that is shipped with Spring, so, everybody just plays a lot of mods.

If by "no game" you mean xta, you are correct.

We made proper AIs ages ago, try AAI or NTai or RAI instead of the old ancient random enemies.

I'm happily using the AIs for skirmishes; sad to say, I'm still a bit rusty and am finding myself more than challenged by AAI :?

However, I am still interested in this random spawn thing, so if anyone can give me any help with location/format of spawn.txt ...

Give yourself 100 handicap, and read Ivory Kings XTA tutorial. A lot of that applies to BA AA and CA too. You can find it in the #xta toix, the gallery at http://www.darkstars.co.uk, or the xta forum. Its heavily picture orientated so its very light reading.
