Ok, I edited it. But come on dude. Anyone with a brain knows that API's are slightly more important than channel icons. Satirik's attack is idiotic and is only an attempt to twist situations and words around.

Does it occur to you that a unified api for channel icons may be desirable?

Works both ways for this fight. Better to stay out.

Satiriks attack is a failed attempt to discredit my projects to score points because I pointed out a problem

My counter attack is an attempt to point out the absurdity of satiriks attack while providing entertainment and fun for all.

My point behind channel icons si that game lobbies should eb colourful and full of rich graphics. Images like these can help foster more community and improve the visual representation of the lobby. We shouldn't be relying on the GUI design of the XP luna or the Vista aero design teams to provide buttons and scrollbars with enough flash to suffice.

Channel icons arent needed, but theyre a nice touch ^_^

I have to say that i agree with AF on this one.

Todays standards have moved away from gaming experience towards visual experience, so if you wanna get new players to stick long enough with game to fall in love (get addicted) with it you need to make things like lobby (and homepage) nicer to look at. I don't know where AF is going with his lobby atm, but i would sure love to see lobby like satirik's with more advanced visual effects and possibility to customize some personal aspects like this channel icons for example.

I know we would have to sacrifice some of the most useful space for the looks but i think if design was smart enough we could still have almost the same usability as satirik's lobby brings with alot nicer looks.
And i do realize that most of game interfaces use 3D rendered graphics and effects, but i still think that something similar could be achieved without that.

Here's 1 idea which comes from battlenet:
Few players (3 or so) decide to make clan, they request clan together, choose their desired channel, upload desired picture and decide on tag. They still use their nicknames without any clan prefix or sufix couse server knows who's in that clan. When you hoover over player's name in lobby it displays data about that person with clan name, clan picture and such (similar as satirik's lobby does for maps).
You can decide on ur own whether you wanna see players list with clan prefixes or not...
Ppl could only have 1 clan and could only get invited into it.
I know this kind of thing needs alot of new server-sided features, but it would bring whole new dimension to clan community. You could follow clan's statistics than which would probably make them strive for better organization and skill.
Clan would get their passworded channel on TS and channel admin rights so they can move in and out freely while noone else can join in.

Maybe this is lil far-fetched idea but it would certainly be an interesting feature. But ppl would first have to unite and work on things together instead of fighting about it.

I feel like sucha idealist right now. I'm off to plant some trees and save world from global warming, bb.

Thankyou for the PiRO and the teh images, theyre very nice indeed ^_^

Aegis has plans such as unique IDs for suers which would make the whole business of implementing clantag type itnerfaces much much easier.

Also those sorts of interfaces would be doable via widgets/extensions in battlehub.

Things that effect entire community (clans, stats...) should always be part of lobby not just an option. Most ppl can't be bothered with configuring spring's "3rd party" addons.
You can see how only low percentage of players use excelent TS system or Spring Downloader all because they don't come in one great big package with spring.

A good widget ecosystem has the best widgets bundled or pulled into the lobby itself, while the lobby provides a nice means of auto-adding those widgets and display them in a suitable and easy to use manner.

No lobby currently does this or can claim to even approach it.
