"Finally, and despite the assertions of the MPAA, RIAA and the authorities, MegaUpload carried a huge amount of non-infringing content, giving the service itself “substantial non-infringing users”. Nevertheless, all content has now been seized, leaving millions of people and companies without their personal data."

I had 3 files on there. I liked the site's efficiency in some way i don't remember.

"The issue of not taking down content is a fascinating one. MegaUpload is not on its own when it hashes content then allows users to access already-stored versions of the same files. Nevertheless, will taking down a specific URL and not the content itself be enough to appease the courts?"

So it was that one guy who sold them out that mattered? Or the fact they stayed n us instead of jump to Scandinavia? I hope i don't have to learn how to use the navy's anonimization network.

And wtf is with all the personal attacks against the owner? Although 50 mil.. HOW? Srysly how many people payed the 10$. I am pretty sure not 10 mil.

Well FBI acts against people that grows using theyr talent, 50 years jail because copyright infrigment, a guy kill 2 kids, 20 years jail, seriously is copyright even worse than drugs traffic, gun traffics even killing other people??

The owners did not killed anyone, they dont had traffic like drugs or guns
sooner FBI will put on jail all the internet downloaders and uploaders

now what if he had killed 2 kids before the prohibition started?
and they would have to give him 50 years for the copyright stuff, and 20 for killing the kids. would they really still do that, or would they decide it looked to stupid in the media?
and what if he went along, bought himself a small army, invaded some country far away that nobody cares about, and killed 1% of the population to make the free world an even better place? would he be president* instead?

* ima talking... of the cocoa cola company, 'curse!

So if i murder a Copyright lawyer (abmahnanwalt).. that only gives me 20 years? Guess its encouraged to go to the source of the problems ;)

On the other hand, my usage of copyrighted material dropped drastically when i joined spring. For everything to be, there is a version of it for free. Its only not advertised.

Wouldnt that be a cool add-method? Just shoving a coupon for a free version of spring into gaming packages in shops?

Dont want to talk about politics on here, People thinks copyright is worse than killing 100 people like in the norway, the guy will have less years in jail than the megaupload owner ...., well better no comment, hope some mod lock this topic it has no sense to still fill up with it.

So if someone kill ur son he will have only 15 years of jail, but u lost ur son and he will not come back anymore. but the assasin guy will be back after 15 years

This needs to be an Onion article. MU owner kills copyright lawyer to reduce own sentence.
