Btw, inside bubblejet printer head, you also have temperatures higher than core of star :) (For few molecules for short time)
And anyway, NIF laser can never achieve fusion with energetic gain, only two newer EU sited projects - ITER and HiPER can do it (produce more energy (as heat) in fusion than energy needed to start fusion).
ITER with tokamak/magnetic confinement and HiPER with laser ignition.
ITER is currently being constructed in France (ten billion Ôé¼ pricetag - more expensive than LHC in CERN) and HiPER is still in design phase.
