The issue is spring not working on windows operating systems prior to Win2k, not what you guys think is the best. :P
Anyway, upgrading to 2000 or XP has the advantage of getting rid of a lot of compatiblity issues (not only for spring).

I know that some games used some functions only present in the API of XP to enforce XP as OS, yet changing them with a hex edtior to the 2000 equivalent worked nicely. I don't know how much one can be done for 98 though.

I recommend an upgrade to Win ME. There's no doubt that was the best OS ever. :roll:
