maybe this small mouse i found today can be the engine mascot :D




was coming home from work, and someone was walking their dog, and the dog was reacting to something on the ground... so i looked, and it was this little mouse sort of wandering about in circles disoriented

i got home, put on a coffee, and thought "what the hell is wrong with me" so i went back with a cardboard box with cereal in it... mouse went right in (i think he wanted to hide) and now he's safe on my back deck under a chair.

i gave him some water, more cereal, some cashews, some grapes, some tissue and some newspaper to make a little nest. also a tube and a little hut, but i'm not sure what he thinks of them.

since drinking water he seems more alert; nibbling on cashews and peering up at me. he was cleaning himself which might be a good sign; IDK if he was sick or dying or just dehydrated or what but now he's got a safe place at least to die in dignity and safety... if he's healthy and strong enough, he can just go thru the cardboard and escape.

i hope he's okay :3

there are parasites, that affect mice and or birdbrains to go in circles (makes them a victim for dogs and cats, were the parasites grow up).. so i smell a tragedy here.

Still, i admit it here, i am a animal-person, so treat this little critter kindly :D

Mice are infamous for there fast lifecycles, cancer included. But they are nice animals non the less.

moral dilemma guys; im sure he'll die... either a parasite or a brain injury or something. i cant just smash him, he's a sweet little animal :3 he likes eating things and making forts, just like me!

i could...

- just dump him out of this box and let an owl or a raccoon get him
- leave him in the box and just keep letting him eat cashews and run clockwise until he dies
-some other option that doesn't leave me with lingering doubt

i'm happy to feed him until he dies; if i'd had a stroke and was wandering around disoriented, i'd rather a friendly giant than a stomping giant come to my aid...

Well, if he's in pain, you should end it quick. If he isn't in pain, I would say let him stay in the box eating to his heart's content. At least he can die in peace.

It is only a mouse after all, but on the other hand, if it isn't a big deal to help him out, I say help him out.

If he's in pain he'll be making noise tho, and if he is, personally I say death by brick (should be quick and painless, and not get anything that you care about all messy).

Kind of a shame tho.

Edit: Be careful tho, cute as he might be he may very well be carrying some pretty nasty diseases, so watch yourself and use thick or leather gloves to handle him (leather work gloves should do quite nicely).

Srsly, that with noise is nonsense- the noise is produced as warning sign, many animals suffer in silence to not attract hunters to the burrow, herd or group. Watch for teeth grinding, thats often a sure sign of agony. (No, i did not torture animals to find that out. Ask a animal doctor for that. Besides, that one could help. If you have the money for that.)

And if you want to have him a sweet death, well, most animals respond to the same drugs human do. Painkiller-Overdose i choose you...

Most likely, the parasites in his brain have destroyed the centers for pain anyway. And Forb is absolutly right there, rubber gloves, or youll be going in circles. Was some old greek philosopher who had the same disease, lost his head as a sideeffect...

Shoot him and bury him if he you are attached to him somehow. Mice while cute are rodents that carry many potentially deadly diseases and fuck shit up in general. Honestly, If he is sick put him out of his misery, if he isn't kill him anyways.

Wild mice are not pets, you need to get rid of him. Mice are the most annoying damned things I have had to deal with all summer.

If this cute little mouse with its big ears were tame I would say that you should bury it in a wooden tea box once it died. That's what I did when my pet hamster that I had as a kid died of old age. The tea box smelled nice.
