PS have questions.

Can SSMF do anything like the first/second pictures for the lava cracks? It would need to use a self-illuminating, alpha-mapped texture with variable opacity as a layer. If SSMF isn't used by many people it may look like shit on a large number of computers. I'm a noob and haven't kept up and I'm real lazy so sorry I should probaly go read.

The sprite emitter effects and smoke/haze are of course possible.

I believe I can help you with the glow, within limitations, of course. It will involve replacing the current SSMF shader, which may result in it not being forward compatible. SSMF is visible by all who enable shadows, dont know what percentage of users actually do though.

All the answers I needed to hear 8)

I have a layout in mind, so all of this bit wouldn't be done until the end. Time to fire up WM.

You may want to check out arghs lava lua. It's in worldbuilder. Dunno the copyright issue of it though...

I tried to pressure beherith to add it to his old lava map plus with SSMF but he is so aloof to revive his old ones

Shots in the first post remind of this map.

The lava on it is static and ghey though so if you could get some Lua on that, would be pretty neat imo.

ramps & slopes are nightmares to do though. in springmapedit they looked ok, ingame they are square. Couldnt figure that out, maybe just needed moar blur or higher color depth.

No need to blur out ramps too much, its nice to see clear to see where it starts and ends.

Nah, just use -l option in compiler. If your height differences are really high use a 16bit heightmap + -l and your ramps will be just fine.

Interesting BA gameplay concept for the second map shown; early on it'll be groups of tanks sent while the lava is low, and later it'll be based on airlifts. Air will be more important than normal.

Looks like LUA and a big, false plain (not water). Good stuff!
