mmm, it seems to hit and miss trying to get the titans to run a path. Half the time they just attack whatever is closest to them, and it makes it really tough to reliably channel them anywhere.

Forget the usual tower defense. Titans won't just follow the path that is drawn on the map. They will barely follow it the first levels but soon enough they'll just run at your base using the closest and defenseless way possible. If a refinery is close enough to their path, they'll attack it.

Reaching mars is pretty easy, it's getting tricky at the end of mars :)
- make your defense very close to your base using Radars, batteries and cooling devices. They are a must have, especially radars (increase turret range)
- keep your refineries away from titans' path or behind your defense line.
- keep in mind that if there are basicly 2 ways leading to your base and you defend only 1 way, all titans will soon avoid this one because the AI is pretty well done and intelligent.
- read infos at each beginning of level. It'll often be informations about new monsters you'll fight and it's pretty useful
- try to extract all the mineral on the map and research for the silos as soon as you can.
- Use powerups on boss, especially the berserk one. Don't waste them :)
- feel free to start over from earth if you think you aren't powerful enough to make a specific level.
have fun

Hm, that's pretty different from the way i played :D

Basically i made turrets next to locations the titans are atm, in a position it's not on their direct path but beside it - that way they'll not likely to kill it, neither will they go round it very often, if you put a turret besides both sides of their path they cannot avoid this. If a turret is about to be attacked, sell it (well often you wont see this in time), and build another one.
I made turrets next to my base only right when the titans were critically close.

My upgrade scheme was probably quite shitty, i took all those scanners and cooling devices but barely ever used them. Also dunno what silos research is :D The damage +1, armorpiercing +1, and range +1 upgrades seemed very good to take for me.
Also I never tried any of the powerups... Will have to I guess if I want to go further, only made earth+moon now.

hum yeah that game offer many different strategies but I doubt you can go past mars/saturn with your way
Mars has 3 new type of enemies.
- One type of creature spams little droids, when the dies, that are invisible to turrets so you have to use capacitors (manual targeting turrets) or droids factories to kill them.
- Ghost, barely visible, and only killable with capacitors
- High speed spiders that rush the first building they see.

Also it introduces a new type of spawn point that no longer spawn units at the border of the map but somewhere inside the map.

So yeah, I think it can be very tricky to spam turrets near spawn points past moon

Also, silos was the old name for "preprocessor". The devs kept rising the cost of silos research during the many releases because it's very powerful :D. Roughly, there are 3 types of minerals : small, medium, big that contains respectively 2000, 4000 and 6000$.
Let's say you put a refinery, near a big and a medium mineral. It'll give you 10000$. But if you spawn 4 silos around the refinery, it'll increase the cash you can extract from a mineral by 50% (12% for 1 silo, 25 for 2, 33 and 50 for 4 silos) so it'll give you 15000$ instead of 10000$. So yeah, silos can increase a looott the amount of money you can make in one level ^^

In RotT I learned that unlike regular TD you shouldn't pay too much attention to making sure the range covers much path, I usually place the blasters so that they barely reach across the road, that still lets them hit most things and keeps them out of the line of movement. Also the titans won't obey road corners, they'll cut those so don't get too close.

Cooling towers are very cost effective, 2500 to research, 250 to build and greatly improving the damage output of your turrets. As the game says, remember that you can stack up to 4 upgrades of a type.

The +1 armor piercing tech gives you access to the shotgun turrets, those are pretty nice too.

BTW, the developer of RotT currently has all of his other games for sale in a $7 pack.
